The volunteer patrol participants will use this page to focus patrols on problem areas.

  1. Cleveland Elementary needs to be patrolled on a regular basis, especially the North side of the building. A person or persons unknown have been drinking beer by the West steps and breaking the bottles on the sidewalk. There was also a suspicious white male, blond hair and mustache, wire rimmed glasses, blue shirt and pants, hanging around on the playground at 9:45 pm on Sunday 6-10-07.

Spivey’s antique store has covered up the graffiti again so it will be a prime target for tagging by the gang members (or wannabes) who tagged it a few weeks ago. Keep an eye on it and report any suspicious activity in the alley behind the building immediately to the OCPD.

  2. Well, that didn’t take long. Graffiti is back up on the East side of Spivey’s though they didn’t get as much of the building this time. The person or persons who did it will probably be back to get the rest of it so anyone who lives in the area should be vigilant and call the police if you see anything unusual or suspicious.

  3. It was brought up in the meeting tonight that two suspicious individuals have been seen in the neighborhood. The two subjects are Native American males driving a blue Honda. One parked the car in the street and the passenger got out and walked to the rear of the house were the property owner happened to be. The one who got out then asked the owner if they needed their lawn mowed which was a silly question as the homeowner maintains their lawn meticulously. The suspicious person then walked back to the car and left the area.
This behavior is typical of an opportunity thief, someone who steals because the opportunity presents itself. They may have also been casing the neighborhood looking for burglary targets.
Be aware of any individuals matching this description in the neighborhood and call 911 immediately to report suspicious persons or activity.

  4. A midle aged black couple are trying to scam residents of Cleveland out of money by claiming to have done yardwork and then demanding money for work they haven’t even done. They have hit at least 3 neighbors that I know of. OCPD has been notified and one of their victims did file a police report. The couple is described as in their 40-50′s, driving a white car with a lawnmower in it. If this couple, or anyone else, demands money for work you did not ask for, refuse and immediately call 911 to report them. They sometimes have an older white male with them. Anyone seeing these people in the neighborhood should notify OCPD or ClevelandWatch.

  5. I saw all the fire trucks last evening (2007Dec17) at Cummings and Venice. I hope everyone is okay and well.

Happy Holidays from a new neighbor.

    Regards,
    Eckie Prater
